Wuxi has now 48 research institutes and 170,000 technicians and
engineers. The proportion of technical people with intermediate and
advanced professional qualifications in the work force is twice as
much as the average level of the nation. There are 10 universities
and colleges, 69 vocational institutes and two international schools.
Nine-year compulsory education is now fully popularized in the city of
Wuxi.
Wuxi has now 42 hospitals among which ae administrated by city's
health authorities with 2,400 beds and 25,000 doctors and nurses.
Present facilities include CT scan, NMR, linear accelerators, pressurized
oxygen compartments, MRI, X-rays, colour, dopplor and DSA. In Wuxi-Singapore
Industrial Park, a medical centre is in full operation, offering world-
class service to expatriates. Besides, an up-scale international hospital
is being planned.
