Brief Introduction of Quzhou
Quzhou, Located in the west of Zhejiang province and abetting Fujian province in the south, Anhui province in the north, Jiangxi province in the west, has been called a thoroughfare of the four provinces ever since ancient times. It is on the upper reaches of Qiantang river and is connected with Hangzhou, Jinhua and Lishui in Zhejiang province. With an area of 8837 square kilometers and a population of 2.39 million, Quzhou has Quxian, Longyou, Kaihua, Changshan, Jiangshan and Kecheng under its jurisdiction. As an ancient city with a history of more than 1800 years, Quzhou boasts of rich natural resources, eminent talents and beautiful scenery.
So far as many as more than 50 varieties of mineral resources have been detected, among which more than 30 have been used. There are also abundant resources of cultivated land, building materials, chemicals, forestry and water in Quzhou. With its developed agriculture, Quzhou has remained to be an important base of commodity grain in Zhejiang province. It is also an examplative base of forestry. Such side-line products as mao bamboo, live pigs, tangerines, timber, tea, yangtao, hedgehog, hydnum mushroom, little cucumber, little pepper, white goose and the like cover an significant position in Zhejiang. There is, for example, an annual tangerine production of more than 0.6 million tons.
The industrial pattern in Quzhou focuses on chemical, building materials, light textile, machinery and food processing with synthesized development in paper-making, leather, electrical appliances, medicine, metallery, and electric power. Some big and medium-sized enterprises with strength and advanced technologies have emerged in Quzhou, among which the Quhua Group is one of the ten chemical enterprises in China.
Thanks to its convenient transportation facilities and position of political, economic and cultural center in the west of Zhejiang province, the borderline trade here is very prosperous and as many as 48 countries and regions have established trade relations with Quzhou. The railways, roads, waterways and airways extend in all directions in Quzhou. Two national highways, No. 320 and No. 205 and four provincial highways pass through the city. Construction of the highway connecting Hangzhou, Jinhua and Quzhou has been approved by the State Council. The multiple track of the railway connecting Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces also passes the city. The civil aviation here has opened routes to Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Qindao, Hangzhou, Wenzhou and Nanjin.
